A woman was left in a coma after a thug punched her so hard he fractured her skull and left her deaf in one ear in a random street attack. Amber Lovick had been enjoying a night out at a friend’s home in Hull when she went to walk home. An argument erupted between a group, and suddenly she was punched by a stranger. The 21-year-old had her jaw broken, her skull fractured, two bleeds on the brain, suffered jugular vein thrombosis, all the bones in her ear were shattered, and spinal fluid was dripping out her nose. No one has been convicted over the violent street attack. She was placed into an induced coma and woke to be told of the horror attack as she walking on Newland Avenue in Hull. Speaking about the attack which happened on New Year’s Day, she remembers the lead up to the assault – but not the punch. Amber and a group of friends headed to her pal’s house after being told she couldn't get into nearby club because she didn't have any ID, reports Hull Live. The group then left to go home at around 3am after enjoying a few beers and ringing in the New Year. She said as they walked home, a man came out of a house infant of them and said “Happy New Year”. The group said “Happy New Year” back and then a fight erupted – with one of her friend’s scuffling with the bloke. Amber, who was 20 at the time of the attack, said: “He had mentioned something about drugs, and my friend asked for some, but then it turned and they started shouting at each other. “He dropped something on the floor and while he was there, my friend punched him, so we dragged our friend away and kept walking." She claims the man kept walking off and then returning to the group, but the group of friends were telling him to “leave it”. Amber added: “We had reached the corner near Lloyds bank and my friend shouted that he had come back, and when I turned around I saw my friend’s face covered in blood.” Amber went on: “I went to hug her because she was crying but then I saw the man go and start a fight with my brother. “I remember shouting at him to leave us alone because I didn’t want my brother to lose his business or his family. “I walked over to the man to tell him to get off and that’s the last thing I remember of the night. “My whole life has changed. When I woke up in hospital I had spinal fluid coming out of my nose.” She said: “I was the manager at my brother’s business, which he has had to close because of what happened. “It’s nine months on and I’m still being declared as unfit for work, and I’m still going through brain scans. “I’ve got no next step in my life now. The doctors want me to go to counselling but I’m not sure what good it will do.
